about

“Through the Stutter” is a run-on sentence distilled to its most visceral parts. As a follow up album to Josiah Konder’s minimalistic debut release, “Through the Stutter” is born from a caricatured, overly romanticized sense of amore disperato. Lyrically, it seems to draw inspiration from the mysticism of E. E. Cummings, its sound reminiscent of Jorge Ben, whilst keeping its violent bursts intact.

The songs are essentialist, like a Bresson flm; as though feeding on the energy of a romantic protagonist, crooning from an apocalyptic place, long after the music stopped.

Josiah Konder is centered around the enigmatic songwriting of Julius Ernst, leading an ever evolving ensemble. Sonically, their narrative travels from Southern Europe to the frigid thicket of urban melancholy. The music is simultaneously a transgression from, and an homage to, traditional songwriting; gently leading the tango down a complex road.

They have collaborated with avant-garde composers, created an A/V show for this year’s CPH:DOX flm festival, and have most recently expanded to include members from diverse groups such as; hyper-bass duo, Lyra Valenza, as well as the noise-rock outft Narcosatanicos.

Most recently, Josiah Konder played at Denmark’s Roskilde Festival, garnering praise from audiences new and old.
