Josiah Konder's music depicts life, as a merry-go-round of both pleasure and pain with their debut album “Songs for the Stunned”.
Thematically the record portrays the transition from one stage of grief to another. From the shallow depths of numb depression to the irony of existence, Songs for the Stunned zooms in on the quiet and silent thoughts of a human in the midst of sorrow, crying and laughing.
With an emphasis on the extrasensory, the lyrics delineates the many sides of grief in “real-time” from the storytellers point of view. At other times, it reflects on the aftermath of a crisis and the unknown of what is to come.
Songs for the Stunned plays out in an intimate atmosphere, it positions the listener at an ears length of a mind, seeking answers on the meanings of suffering in the context of life and love. In its entirety Songs for The Stunned builds a narrative around a protagonist that observes his/hers emotional state as if he/she was looking into a mirror.
